Living the Dream: Double Duty!

Slamstox student-athletes Nikki Kraaijeveld and Thom Reynders left for the United States together to play sports and study at Cloud County Community College.

Athletics union for the first time in contact with college track & field.

Earlier this year, both athletes decided to exchange their Dutch MBO education for an adventure in America. Together with our athletics specialist Bob Van der Ham and Pedro Mol, they went looking for the right team and the right school. Ultimately, the choice for both fell on Cloud. A nice extra that they can go on this adventure with another Dutchman! At Cloud County, they will complete a 2-year course to earn their associate degree. After that, Nikki and Thom will try to make the switch to a 4-year-old university to continue studying and exercising at NCAA level.

Cloud County Athletics, with coach Drew Mahin, has had one of the best athletics teams in the NJCAA competition for years. The T-Birds also have an international team. Nikki and Thom will play in a team with athletes from America, France, South Africa, Kenya and the Bahamas.

Nikki and Thom, we have loved working with you for the past few months. We have worked hard together to make this adventure possible and now it can really start! We wish you both a lot of success and fun in the coming years and will definitely continue to follow you. Let’s go T-Birds!
