Akshaay Swaminathan

Akshaay only started running track in April 2023, having previously been playing badminton and football. It was his PE teacher that spotted his natural talent for running, inspring Askhaay to give it a try. Instantly falling in love with the sport, he has made remarkable progress since then. He is currently training with his local club team, Leiden Atletiek.

Notably, Askhaay is currently ranked 3rd  U18 in The Netherlands with his 3000m PB. His major strength as an athlete is his ability to endure pain and persevere during a race, while also being able to recognize when not to push and listen to his body. He takes recovery after training and competition very seriously, limiting the risk of injuries. Akshaay is a very motivated athlete and wants to do everything to become a better athlete. Recently, he achieved the second place at the national finals of the International Junior Science Olympiad, he won the Dutch National Team Championship U20 with his team and he achieved the second place at the National Relay Championship in the 4x800m.

An area Akshaay is currently working on is his running form. We strongly believe there is still much for improvement, especially considering Akshaay only started running track very recenlty.

- 800m 2:01,07 (2024)

- 1500m 4:13,59 (2024)

- 3000m 9:14,43 (2024 indoor)

In the United States, Akshaay aspires to maximize his potential as an athlete, striving for excellence within his college track and field team. Simultaneously, he excels academically and seeks a strong academic program to complement his athletic pursuits. 

He is currently enrolled in the highest level of high school in the Netherlands and is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2025. Akshaay is interested in doing a major in physics. For more information about his academics, please check out the details section down below.
