Bruce Boon

Since Bruce was a little kid, he was a part of AV Flevo delta. As he grew older, his goals became more clear, he wanted to take his track & field career to the next level. To do so, he switched clubs and is now training at GAC Hilversum. At the nationals in February 2023, he had a challenging moment during pole vault – he fell and dislocated his hip, fracturing a part of his hip. Undeterred, in August 2023, he attempted a full decathlon and successfully finished it, showcasing remarkable determination. 

Starting in September 2023, Bruce is trying to blend track and field with soccer. In December 2023, he undertook his first heptathlon since his accident, achieving a personal best with a score improvement of over 600 points. The impressive total of 4940 points currently ranks him number 1 in The Netherlands for his age. He anticipates breaking the 7000 points mark this outdoor season.

His major athletic goals in the USA are to perform at his absolute best for his future college track team, get the maximum out of his athletic career, and PB in all events. He also wants to improve on his speed. 

Bruce graduated from the highest level of high school in the Netherlands (VWO) in the summer of 2023. He is now taking a gap year to fully focus on track & field.
