Currently Filiz is playing for Sliedrecht Sport women’s third team in the second division as a middle blocker. Besides training and playing with her own team, she also trains with their women’s second team (Top Division level). 

Starting her volleyball journey at the age of 11. Filiz joined a RTC, where she trained alongside other talented players from her area. This early exposure to structured training has undoubtedly contributed to her development as a skilled and disciplined athlete.

Eager to learn and motivated, Filiz stands out as a player who actively seeks to enhance her skills and understanding of the game. Her enthusiastic and fanatic approach to volleyball makes her a valuable asset to her team, contributing both in terms of skill and unwavering commitment.

Filiz’s qualities in the volleyball game are undeniably her blocking and her serve. While observing the attackers, she keeps an overview while not losing sight of her middle blockers. When the set is given to the outside attackers she has a natural way of moving and the hands follow her feet to create a two-man block at the right moment.

Serving she puts pressure on many passers with her float speed. From various positions from her back line, she can put pressure on the passers. Of course there is still plenty of room for improvement, such as her approach speed and timing of her attack.  But also defensively ensuring that after the defensive action the ball is playable for the setter. 

One of Filiz’s aspirations is to foster mental growth during games, showcasing her awareness of the psychological aspect of the sport. 

In the academic realm, Filiz graduated high school, in the gymnasium level, the highest level of high school in the Netherlands, in June 2024. Filiz is currently in a gap year and has not decided what she wants to major in.
