Floor Dijkhuizen

Level

Floor currently plays in the U18-1 team of AMVJ and has always played at some of the higher levels of youth field hockey throughout her career (Subtop). Floor has had opportunities to play at higher levels but has always stayed loyal to her team. Recognizing her talent and potential, Floor has always been placed on the teams one age group up from her. As a U14 player, Floor played at the second highest national club level and led her team to the division championship. Floor made her debut for the AMVJ Women 1 team at the second highest level of Dutch indoor hockey in 2024.

Playing style

Floor is a skilled midfielder with great awareness and vision. Her strengths lie in reading the play, and making quick decisions to create dangerous attacking opportunities. She can easily pass defenders with her acceleration and technique and uses it to create attacking combinations with her teammates. Floor has a powerful and accurate strike on goal. Defensively, Floor has good patience and tackles, and the ability to cover a lot of ground. 

Additional field hockey experience

Floor played in the national 3v3 championship where she finished second with her team in a field filled with top level players. She has also been named MVP at multiple tournaments. 

Extracurricular activities

Outside of field hockey and school, Floor is known to pursue opportunities to strengthen her resume and that allow for personal growth. She is the editor-in-chief at her school newspaper and has taken part in several courses such as artificial intelligence and mindfulness. Floor is also an avid field hockey youth trainer and referee. Additionally, she has been a tutor for math, Latin and biology for younger students at her high school. 

Academics

Floor is in her final year of high school and studies at the highest level of education in the Netherlands (VWO/Gymnasium). Floor is a very motivated student with a GPA of 3.4 at one of the most prestigious Gymnasium schools of The Netherlands. She scored 1300 on her first attempt of the SAT and will be taking the Duolingo in the Fall of 2023.
