Joann Leijten

Joann is a very athletic and motivated tennis player, she is quick on her feet and plays with a winner mentality. Joann has a high commitment and sets the bar high for herself in both tennis and academics. Her commitment has been showing as she won several national junior ranking tournaments and achieved a ranking as high as no.8 U16.

Joann is determined to get the most out of her herself in both tennis and academics. She is attending the highest level of VWO high school while combining it with a busy training schedule. Joann has been nominated by her school for the Mariska Lips Award, an award for the student who combines academics and sport at their best. Currently, Joann is working hard to climb up the Dutch Women's national rankings.

Joann is looking for a team where she can keep developing and compete at a high level, after college, she would like to start on the professional circuit. Joann wants to keep playing a lot of matches in college tennis to improve her confidence in her game. She is interested in studying arts and particularly in film studies. An interesting side note is that Joann is raised bilingual; Dutch and Chinese. Joann can even speak Chinese nowadays.

Besides playing a lot of tennis on court, Joann also likes to play piano, she started just at the age of 6 and has even played in her school's band. Besides that, Joann is also a great swimmer, she even got her lifesaver 1 swimming diploma.
