Kiet van der Velden

Kiet van der Velden started playing volleyball at the age of 11 at De Burgst. At the age of 15, he made the transition to the men's teams. Three years ago, in pursuit of furthering his development, Kiet decided to join ZVH. However, he later returned to the men's first team of De Burgst with the goal of competing at an even higher level, showcasing his commitment to the sport.

Kiet has a lot of skills to be an all-round volleyball player. In the past he played at almost every position,  he has demonstrated proficiency in various positions, having experience as an opposite, an outside hitter, and even as a libero. Additionally, he has also played a lot of beach volleyball over the years. All those qualities makes him an all-round player, capable of contributing effectively in different roles and providing valuable support to his team in various positions.

Kiet is renowned for his consistency as a setter. He possesses the talent to deliver precise and accurate sets, empowering his hitters to execute powerful and well-placed attacks with reliability. Kiet has strong defensive skills, showcasing agility, speed, and precision when handling attacks from the opposing team. He exhibits the ability to smoothly transition from defense to setting, showcasing his versatility on the court.

Kiet is eager to become a more well-rounded player. He recognizes the need to enhance his attacking skills, focusing on improving accuracy and power when attacking the ball.

Kiet completed his high school education at the VWO level, highest level of high school in the Netherlands, in June 2023. Currently, he is taking a gap year and aspires to begin his college journey in the US as a freshman in the fall of 2024. His primary academic interest lies in pursuing studies related to architecture.
