Lotte Aerts

Lotte is a very disciplined and ambitious athlete. She loves to train hard and does various (mid) distance events, but her primary events are the steeple chase and XC country. When she was only 6 years old Lotte started as a heptathlete and at age 12 she decided to focus on distance running only. Coached by Dennis Licht (former Dutch distance runner, 13x Dutch Champion) she made lots of progress very quickly and had multiple successes throughout her career already including a national U16 title in the 1500m SC. Lotte is a driven and disciplined athlete. She rarely misses practice and always gives full effort, both in races and during workouts. Lotte is coachable, driven and has great aerobic capacity. In training, Lotte is currently working on her water jumps as this still takes too much time during her steeple races. We strongly believe there is still much room for improvement if she keeps training consistently, especially in the steeple chase if the water jumps become smoother. 

She successfully competed at various national championships already. Some of her best results in her athletic career are a national title in the 1500m SC (2021) U16. Two years (2023) later she managed to finish 2nd the Dutch National Championships in Bergen op Zoom racing the 2000m steeple chase. Lotte is a strong cross country runner as well, who consistently finished top-5 in the National XC competition (this competition includes multiple XC meets) 2017-2023.

In the USA Lotte is dedicated to keep developing as a distance runner primarily focusing on the steeple chase and XC. Her goal is to perform at her absolute best both academically and athletically. For her track career, a major goal is to compete at Nationals. 

Lotte is enrolled in the highest level of high school in The Netherlands (VWO) and is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2024. For more information about her academics, please check out the details section below.
