Marie Dijkstra

Level

Marie has been playing at the highest level of Dutch youth hockey (Super and Landelijk) at he top teams of her club AH&BC Amsterdam ever since she was young. AH&BC is one of the biggest clubs in The Netherlands with one of the best Women 1 teams of the Hoofdklasse.

Playing style

Marie's main strengths are her speed and basic skills, allowing her to excel in attacking 1v1s. Additionally, she has a powerful reverse and strong shot and makes quick decisions in the circle, allowing her to score goals often. In the circle, she makes smart decisions. Whether that's shooting herself, giving an assisting pass or seeking for a foot to get a penalty corner. Marie has a great drive and gives everything to win. She is very dedicated to field hockey and her team and has a great connection with her coach. She understands what it takes to improve herself and turns advice from her coach quickly into action. 

High performance

Marie has been a member of the pipeline for Dutch youth teams for most of her career. At the age of 13, she was selected to the district team of "North Holland", a team with the most talented players from her region. Marie was able to develop and prove herself during her time as a player for the district, and was selected to the Dutch U15 team in 2020.

Academics

Marie a good student and is expected to graduate VWO (the highest level of Dutch high school) in June 2024. 

She is looking forward to joining a college field hockey program, starting in the Fall of 2024.
