Maud van Lierop

Level

Maud plays in the U18-1 team at HOD. She has always played in the first selection team and usually competes at one of the highest levels of youth hockey (Subtop league). She has won the Subtop league championship with her team twice. Maud regularly practices with the Women 1 team HOD. This team plays in the Overgangsklasse, the third highest league of senior hockey in The Netherlands.

Playing style

Maud became a goalkeeper the age of 12. She has always had a great sense of where the ball is going to be in the circle. She thinks ahead, and has a proactive playing style, allowing her to shut down opponents before they create real opportunities. Maud has fast reflexes, quick footwork and an aggressive attitude in the circle. She has strong communication skills and has a positive attitude towards her teammates.  Maud has a great work ethic and regularly trains besides her regular practices

High performance

Maud was invited to the selections for the Dutch U18 team in March 2022.

Academics

Maud is in her fifth year of VWO, the highest level of education in the Netherlands. She is expected to graduate in June 2024. 

Additional information/accolades

Maud was named Best Goalkeeper at the SVW Tournament in Hilversum. For two years now, Maud is training with Pirmin Blaak, the goalkeeper from the Dutch national men’s team, on a weekly basis. Maud is also dedicated to spreading her love for the game, and has coached younger goalies for a few years now. Coaching kids allows her to become a better, more aware, goalkeeper.
