Max Venema

Max Venema currently plays in the Dutch second division, for Twente ‘05 as an opposite, in their first men’s team. Max is really tall and knows how to use his height well. He is a smart player, as a left-handed player he can easily play a trick the opponent will never see coming. 

Max started playing volleyball just four years ago, at the age of 13, at Twente ‘05 boys U15. Two years later, he was invited to train with the Dutch National Youth Team U17 and started training with the senior teams which boosted his development a lot. Last season he was team captain of the boys U19 team and also started to play for the first men’s team of Twente ‘05. 

As a team captain he knows how to encourage his teammates to be the best they can. 

During his time in college, Max wants to grow as a volleyball player overall. But specifically, he wants to focus on improving physically. He is looking forward to working in a close team environment, where he and his future teammates can help each other to become the best of themself. 

In the Summer of 2022, Max participated in the ISF World School Championship Volleyball in Brazil. Besides training and playing at his own club, last year Max started training with the first men’s team of Webton (top division level) to keep improving even faster. 

Max is currently enrolled in high school, in the VWO level, the highest level of high school in the Netherlands. He expects to graduate in June 2024 and has not decided what he wants to major in yet.
