Michael Janssen currently plays volleyball for Webton (Top Division) as an outside hitter. Besides playing for his club team, Michael is also part of the Dutch National Team U19.

Michael’s strengths as an outside hitter are evident in his exceptional speed, explosiveness, and extensive court coverage. These remarkable qualities make him a formidable force on the court. A standout feature of his game is the powerful jump serve, a skill that not only secures crucial points but also keeps opponents on edge. Furthermore, Michael brings a powerful swing to his offensive game, allowing him to effectively attack on quick sets and adjust to different plays. His scoring abilities go beyond quick spikes, as he uses his natural passing skills to put the setter in a position to execute the best attack combination.

– 10’10” attack reach height, 1 arm. 
– 10’5” block reach height, 2 arms. 

Despite his already impressive skill set, Michael is dedicated to continuous improvement. He recognizes the need to enhance his blocking skills and aims to evolve into a more well-rounded volleyball player. His commitment to development underscores his ambition to excel in all facets of the game.

Some of his most notable achievements include:

– Participation in the World Championship U19 (Brazil, 2022 (10th) & Serbia, 2024 (9th))

– Participation in the European Championship U17 (Montenegro, 2023)

– Being ranked as the #3 best receiver in the European Championship U17 (Montenegro, 2023)

Michael’s journey in sports is diverse. Having explored various disciplines during his youth, he fully transitioned to volleyball around the age of 13. Notably, he was recruited to train with the national beach volleyball team in the past, showcasing his adaptability to different formats of the game.

Beyond the court, Michael is a strong academic performer as well, pursuing his high school education at the the highest level of high school in the Netherlands (VWO). His major interests gravitate towards the sciences and/or business, emphasizing his dedication to academic excellence alongside his athletic pursuits.
