Thomas Aerdts

Thomas is an upcoming Dutch distance runner who’s currently training with his local club team Scopias Atletiek. He always worked with the same coaches since he first engaged in track and field at age 12. Thomas primarily trained hurdles and distance (1000m) back then. The following years he gradually improved himself and developed as an athlete. Nowadays his main event is the 800m and recently (June 2023) Thomas placed 2nd at the Dutch National Championships U18 in this event. 

His major strengths are his discipline and determination to train hard in order to improve athletically. Thomas always gives a 100% effort both at practice and in races. An area he’s currently working on to improve is his kick during the final stages of his 800m. We strongly believe there is still much room for improvement, especially when Thomas keeps training hard and improves his aerobic capacity so he can push all the way through the home stretch. 

His current PBs: 

400m: 54,06 (2022)

800m: 1:55,13 (2023)

In the USA Thomas would like to perform at his absolute best for his college team and get the maximum out of his athletic career. He is looking for a school where he can develop further athletically and improve his PBs across the board. Additionally, he would like to run many races to gain more experience competing. 

Thomas is 1.90m (6’3) and he weighs 67kg (147 lbs).

He is currently enrolled in the highest level of high school in The Netherlands (VWO) and Thomas is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2024. For more information about his academics please check out the details section below.
