Ymre Massée

LevelYmre currently plays for SCHC U18-1 at the highest level of Dutch youth hockey (Landelijk/National League). SCHC is one of the best Women 1 teams in the country and players from the U18-1 team are regularly selected to join the Women 1 team. In 2021 Ymre still played for a smaller regional club and was scouted by SCHC to join their U18 team. She joined the SCHC U18-1 team when she was only 15 and has developed herself into a leading player on her team.

High performance

Ymre was selected to the regional U14 and U15 teams in 2020-2021. This team is composed of the 15-20 most talented players of a region and a pipeline team for the Dutch youth teams.

Playing style

Ymre is an attacking minded defender. She currently plays as a defender but also has experience as a midfielder and a forward. One of Ymre’s biggest strengths is her creativity on the ball. She has the ability to eliminate and go with speed but also hold onto the ball with poise. Due to Ymre’s great basic skill set, she is able to prescan, read the play and give high quality follow up on the play. Defensively, Ymre has the awareness to position herself in the right lines to intercept through balls. On attack, Ymre has the awareness to overload and create an attacking surplus. She’s then able to use 3D/aerial skill to eliminate and provide her teammates with assists.

2015: Finals Dutch Championship for technical field hockey skills

2019: Dutch regional team U14

2020: Dutch interregional team U15

2022: Made it to the semi-finals of the Dutch championship U18

2023: Finished 2nd the European Hockey Club Championship for U18 teams

Academics

Ymre is a motivated student and expected to graduate the highest level of Dutch high school (VWO) in June 2024. She has even expanded her curriculum with extra subjects, Business Economics and Philosophy, and supplementary courses such as Italian Culture, Spanish, Creatieve Writing and Media.

Ymre is looking forward to joining an ambitious college field hockey team in the Fall of 2024 or 2025. She is hoping to contribute to her team while learning a lot.
