Alfrendo Vogelaar, born in March 2004, is a Dutch, right-handed tennis player interested in joining a college team in the Fall of 2022. Since he was 11 years old, Alfrendo has been ranked top 3 nationally and has represented the Netherlands in many international championships. He is eager to play college tennis with his eyes on entering the ATP Tour after graduating.
Alfrendo is a highly dedicated player with great athletic ability. In 2020 he reached the semi-finals of the National Championships under 16 and achieved a year-end ranking within the top 3 nationally. He also placed 2nd in the Dutch Master’s Championship, where only the best eight juniors compete. Alfrendo is looking for a competitive D1 university where he can make the most out of his athletic and academic careers.
Alfrendo started playing tennis at the age of 7 and was quickly recruited to be enrolled in the national training program of the Dutch Tennis Federation, where he trained until last year. Throughout his junior career he won several tournaments at the highest level, both in doubles and singles, and was therefore selected by the federation to represent the Dutch team in international tournament play such as the European Winter Cup.
Off the court, Alfrendo also excels. He is enrolled at the highest educational level (Gymnasium) in the Netherlands at one of the best high schools in the country, where the Dutch royal princesses are students as well. His academic commitments have made it difficult for him to travel to international tournaments and obtain an ITF ranking. However, he anticipates competing in ITF tournaments within the Netherlands in 2021, and we expect him to do very well.
In the States, Alfrendo hopes to find a team where he can get ready for the ATP Tour. He’s got much potential to improve, and being only sixteen, can still make big strides mentally and physically. With his passion for winning and play hard work hard mentality, we think he will be a great addition to your team.
UTR Profile (UTR 11) – As a consequence of Covid-19, Alfrendo was, and still is, unable to compete in (international) tournaments. We therefore are strongly convinced his UTR should be at least 11.50.
