Living the dream coming true! Kim van der Meulen is leaving for UC Davis in California this weekend to study and play hockey for UC Davis Field Hockey! A beautiful story that has even been picked up by the Eindhovens Dagblad (see article about Kim’s dreams), and that will become even better for Kim in the US.
After making the switch to the Eindhoven top club MHC Oranje-Zwart last year, Kim’s goal was to graduate cum laude from HAVO this year and to continue her studies and hockey career in America and to follow her dream. Together with Kayleigh Schmitz and Pedro Mol from Slamstox Scholarships, Kim started the process for a place in America and eventually she had the choice of 11 different full scholarship offers.

UC Davis (academically one of the best schools in the US) turned out to be the best fit, both in terms of study and hockey. We are convinced that the hard work in America will suit Kim well. In addition to her fantastic study results and achievements at Oranje-Zwart, she works no less than 5 different jobs!

Kim has already passed on her clothing sizes for the new outfits and has already selected her new hockey stick. Last year, a brand new hockey field was also installed at UC Davis, so Kim is well on your way! By the way, coming from a cycling country like the Netherlands will also come in handy; This is because on the campus of UC Davis there is an enormous “Bike Circle”, a roundabout especially for cyclists. UC Davis is the # 1 university in America when it comes to number of students and teachers who cycle daily!

Kim, we thought it was cool to work with you over the past few months and we will definitely continue to follow you. Good luck and have fun!
