About Shantell
Shantell Kwofie is an exceptional talent from the Netherlands, with multiple national titles in events such as the shotput and the 60m hurdles. In 2020, she became Dutch U18 champion in the 400m at just 14 years old. Her impressive performance on the track brought her to the national selection, after which she participated in the U20 European Championships, among others.

Shantell’s ambition was to get the most out of her sport and studies. She already had a 4.0 GPA and wanted to combine her academic and athletic careers at a top level university. Her focus was to graduate from a prestigious medical school in the United States, while continuing to develop her athletic performance.

The challenges
The biggest challenge for Shantell was the limited budget for her American dream. She worked hard to earn several scholarships and work her way to a university in the U.S. What added to the challenge was Princeton University’s extremely high admission requirements, which were not only academically but also athletically demanding. It was clear that she needed a unique combination of talent and discipline to meet this challenge.

Slamstox’s role
Slamstox played a crucial role in Shantell’s journey. We not only helped her select the right universities with strong athletics programs and prestigious academic programs, but also helped her secure the right scholarships. After receiving several offers, Shantell chose Princeton because of its exceptional combination of top level track & field and academic opportunities.

Admission to Princeton is a huge accomplishment, and the process was extremely intense, both academically and athletically. Thanks to our connections with coaches and our extensive understanding of the admissions process, we helped Shantell make her dream come true. In addition, it was special that Shantell joined another Slamstox athlete, Julia Jongejeugd, at Princeton, which made the transition to America easier for her.

In addition, we helped her navigate the complex administrative process and the various requirements of Princeton. Thanks to our guidance and Shantell’s own efforts, she was able to secure her spot at one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

The result
Shantell’s hard work led to her earning the highest possible scholarship at Princeton. Since her arrival, she has had outstanding accomplishments in her athletics career. She now ranks 6th all-time in the shotput, 8th in the 100m hurdles and 8th in the heptathlon at Princeton. In the summer of 2024, she became Dutch U20 champion in the 100m hurdles, a nice recognition of her progression.
