A Promising talent in Dutch field hockey
Marique Dieudonné was always one of the most promising field hockey talents in the Netherlands. She reached the preliminary selection of the Dutch national team and played in youth for Oranje Rood. She later made the move to the first women’s team of MOP, playing in the promotion class. With a strong field hockey background and a VWO degree in her pocket, Marique decided to combine her athletic career with a college degree in Sports Marketing (SPECO).

From internship to her own American adventure
For her internship, Marique ended up at Slamstox. There she discovered more about the possibilities of studying and playing sports in America, and soon realized that this was something she wanted to dive into herself. Together with the specialists at Slamstox, she set up her own track and after several offers from American universities, she finally chose Rutgers University.

Rutgers University, located in New Jersey, is known for its strong academic programs and sports teams. Rutgers’ field field hockey team ranks among the top 10 in America, so Marique found the perfect combination of an excellent master’s degree and field hockey at the highest level. Rutgers is located in a major city, which provided Marique with an attractive environment to further herself both athletically and academically.

Full Scholarship
Thanks to Slamstox’s knowledge and network, Marique was offered a full scholarship, and was accepted into one of the best universities in America. Her background and experience in field hockey helped her fall well into the team almost immediately. She played almost every game and even became one of the team’s captains.

A Special Pathway
What makes Marique’s adventure extra special is that through her internships and work at Slamstox, she already had a lot of knowledge of the process of studying and playing sports in America. She was able to design her trajectory exactly the way she wanted, and with Slamstox’s help, she made the most of the opportunities that were in front of her.
