Josephine Veen comes from a real field hockey family. Her father, Stephan Veen, is one of the best field hockey players the Netherlands has ever known and has won two Olympic gold medals. Josephine herself has also made her mark in the field hockey world. She played in the Netherlands at the highest national level with Schaerweijde, where she always played in the selection teams. Her enormous talent, perseverance and dedication to the game quickly made her a rising star in the Dutch field hockey world.
Study and sport in perfect harmony
Josephine is not only an outstanding field hockey talent, but also academically strong. This was essential for her in making the decision to go to the United States. Together with Slamstox, she began the search for the best match between sports and studies. During this process, she visited several universities to get the right feeling for the choice that would change her life.

The choice of Duke University
Finally, she made her choice for Duke University, one of the most prestigious universities in the U.S., both academically and athletically. Duke’s field hockey team plays in the ACC, one of the strongest conferences in the country. The click with Dutch coach Ralph Boersma, who has a significant connection to Josephine and her father Stephan, made the choice for Duke even more appealing.
A key player for Duke
Josephine has become a key player for Duke’s team. Under her influence, the team has made huge strides and managed to achieve a top 5 ranking in Division 1. Her dedication, skills and constant development make her a determining factor in the team’s success.
The Future of Josephine
