Although he only had three years of basketball experience, he developed rapidly thanks to his background as a top soccer player. Jesse won the 2022 Dutch U16 Championship and was selected for the National U15 and U16 teams. His development was rapid, and his ambition to develop further in the U.S. soon became concrete.
The move to America
After graduating from high school, Jesse decided to fully focus on both sports and studies in the US. Slamstox helped him find a suitable boarding school where he could maximize his potential. This is how he ended up at DME Academy, a school known for its intensive sports programs and small class sizes.
After a successful year at DME, Jesse took the next step in his development by transferring to Spire Institute, a top school where he trains, plays and studies at the highest level.

Forerunner and inspiration
What made the process with Jesse special was his tremendous drive and confidence in his own path. He received a lot of support from his parents and was one of the first athletes within Slamstox’s boarding school track. His story has since inspired several young talents to also make the move to an American academy.
“Jesse was focused and driven from the beginning. He knew where he wanted to go and worked extremely hard every day to get there. He is an example for other young basketball players who want to follow the same path.”
Full throttle ahead
Jesse experienced the transition to the American system as smooth. He quickly found his niche, both in the classroom and on the field. Thanks to the right guidance, wonderful financial support through boarding school financial aid and his unwavering commitment, he is now getting the best out of himself – on and off the field.
