The Very First and Best Slamstox Swimmer
Nyls Korstanje was the very first swimmer to leave for America through Slamstox, and the very best to date in terms of performance. One of the top 1% swimmers worldwide in his year group, Nyls was known early on for his exceptional talent. After graduating from Saint George’s College, he had numerous offers from universities to continue his swimming and academic career. Ultimately, Nyls chose NC State University, one of the top five swimming teams in the United States.
Goal: Olympics
Nyls had his goals clearly in mind: he wanted to compete for the Dutch Olympic swimming team while also studying sustainability and environmental sciences. His choice of NC State proved to be the right one, as soon Nyls was breaking record after record and winning multiple NCAA championships.

International Success Stories
In 2020, Nyls qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, which Covid-19 postponed to 2021. To best prepare, he took a break from his college swimming team to train with the Dutch national team. This proved to be a success: after his performance in Tokyo, he also qualified for the Paris Olympics, where he achieved an impressive 6th place and improved himself once again.
In 2022, Nyls won a bronze medal at the Budapest World Championships, definitively establishing himself as one of the top swimmers worldwide.
Specializations and Team Spirit
Nyls specializes in the butterfly stroke, but also competes in relay races and the freestyle. Beyond the pool, he is known as an amazing, enthusiastic and social person. With an impressive social media fan base, he manages to secure sponsorship deals and commercial contracts, aided by Slamstox.
The swimming tradition in the Korstanje family continues, as Nyls’ little brother Tim also swims through Slamstox in America, at the University of Alabama. Together they form a real swimming family.
Future plans – 2028 Olympics
Nyls now has his sights set on the 2028 Olympics. If he continues his upward trend, we can expect many more great things from him.
