National talent
Minouche Rooijmans was one of golf’s national talents for many years, playing at GolfTON in Eindhoven, Netherlands. She was part of the Dutch youth selection and combined her sporting achievements with strong academic results. She earned her VWO degree from Sint Joris College.
Dream to study and play golf in America
Minouche’s goal was to play golf in America at the highest possible level, in an environment where she could further herself academically and enjoy a warm location with good golfing weather. Her search brought her several offers from universities. With the help of Slamstox specialists, she mapped out the differences between the universities to make the best choice.

Choosing University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW)
In the end, Minouche chose the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), an NCAA D1 school in North Carolina. A fun detail is that Pedro Mol, founder of Slamstox, also studied and played tennis at UNCW himself. Thanks to this connection, Minouche had a lot of inside information about the university before she made her final choice.
Minouche visited UNCW’s campus and was given a tour by another Slamstox student-athlete who was on the tennis team. These close ties and the good connection with the golf coaches played a decisive role in her decision. The university is close to the coast, and the team plays on the beautiful golf courses at Porter’s Neck Country Club, which only made the choice more appealing.
Future plans
Minouche is determined to complete her bachelor’s degree in America and then pursue her dream of becoming a professional golfer. We are extremely curious about the next steps in her career and expect to see her back on golf courses around the world often!
