The first step to America
For Nick the adventure in America began with a big step. From secondary school in the Netherlands, he decided to pursue his dream: to combine studying and playing golf in the United States. His goal was clear: play at the highest possible level, gain international experience and at the same time study appropriately.
The first challenge was to find a university where both the academic level and sports level were a good fit. Together with guidance, the best route to encourage his development as both a golfer and a student was considered.
Nick started his American career at Iowa Western Community College, a junior college where many international student-athletes develop. This move proved to be perfect for his growth.
In Iowa, he worked hard on his game and played several strong matches. His consistent performance on the golf course showed he was ready for the next step in American college golf.
The move to University of Texas – Dallas
His development did not go unnoticed. In the fall of 2025, Nick made the transfer to University of Texas at Dallas, where he will play for the golf team at the university level. This transfer is a nice culmination of his progression during his time at junior college.
At UT Dallas, Nick is able to continue to develop both academically and athletically. With a combination of an athletic and academic scholarship, he has found the perfect balance between his studies and golf career.
Patience and strong communication
Throughout the course, Nick stood out for his professional approach. He remained patient, communicated strongly with coaches and knew that his performance on the golf course would always be decisive.
Although the transition to the American system took some getting used to at first, he now feels completely at home in college life.
A pathway with the right guidance
In the process, coaching played an important role. Good contact with coaches and universities allowed the right first step to Iowa Western. From there the foundation was laid for his further development and eventually transfer to UT Dallas.
Nick’s story shows that with the right route, patience and hard work, combining top sports and study in America can become a reality.
