Felix van Dijk is a talented Dutch golfer who played at the highest level in the Netherlands for many years. With his drive and passion for the sport, he soon knew he wanted to get more out of his golf career. His goal? To combine playing golf at the top level with studying in the United States. Working with Slamstox, Felix found his perfect match at Illinois State University, where he began his American adventure on a full athletic scholarship.
The move to America
After finishing high school, Felix decided to focus fully on his athletic and academic ambitions. Together with Slamstox, he set a clear plan: find a spot on a Division 1 team where he could not only train, but would also get plenty of playing minutes.
The search brought challenges. The uncertainty about scholarships and the choice between different universities made the process exciting. Yet Felix remained determined and eventually chose Illinois State University – a choice that perfectly matched his desires and ambitions.
Quickly accustomed, quickly successful
The transition to American college life was particularly smooth for Felix. From day one, he was warmly welcomed by the team and coaches. His hard work and belief in his own abilities quickly paid off: he became one of the best players on the team and achieved great success together with his team. An absolute highlight was winning the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in 2023!
A future full of opportunities
After graduation, Felix remained active in the world of golf. He went to work as a coach at a Junior College in the United States, helping young golfers develop further. Now a new chapter is about to begin: together with his American girlfriend, Felix will soon return to the Netherlands to continue his career, with a wealth of experience and great memories from his time in America.
